Part of the Johns Creek community for more than a decade, Blue Dangles Boutique possesses an inviting atmosphere filled with clothing, accessories, original artwork and other trinkets so that there is something interesting to see in every corner of the shop. On any given day, owner Tracey Gruber will be onsite to style clients, offer advice and maintain the welcoming environment Blue Dangles provides for its discerning visitors. Gruber, a fourth-generation retailer, is an international purveyor of clothing and accessories, and she understands the needs of women sizes 000 to 3X.
“They come here for head to toe,” she says. And Blue Dangles delivers with a constant influx of seasonal items from designers throughout the world, especially Gruber’s native Montreal. Blue Dangles also manufacturers clothing for which Gruber personally sources the fabric.
Drawing on her knowledge of current trends and her inventive personality, Gruber shares tips for wearing one of the coming fall season’s must-have items and shows that with creativity, one great piece can do double, or in this case triple, duty.
The black and white, Aztec-pattern sweeper from Canadian brand Mariposa boasts a modern twist with a narrow collar and sleeves, as well as the addition of buttons. It’s machine washable, will not crease and is easy to toss in a bag or suitcase. While smaller women may think a long coat won’t suit them, this sweeper’s sides can be tied in front to shorten the look of it.
“People really like things that have extended life,” says Gruber. “This coat creates no boredom.” Best of all, the sweeper can be used to fashion casual, dressy or vacation style.
Look 1 – Keep it Casual
Throw the sweeper on over jeans and a t-shirt for an easygoing look that still appears put together. Any color shirt will do, from white to red or even a simple pattern like stripes or polka dots.
“It’s ok to mix your prints,” states Gruber. “That all started in the summer, but it’s getting bigger in the fall.”
You can wear the sweeper unbuttoned or button it and add a funky belt. Depending on the occasion – think music festival – you can also tie it around your waist.
Look 2 – Dress it Up
For a more polished look, the sweeper can be worn with a snug or loose dress underneath and accompanied by a special piece of jewelry.
“Accessories matter,” says Gruber.
The sweeper’s high side slits allow the dress to peek through. As a second option, the sweeper can be worn with black pants, heels and a dressy blouse on top.
Look 3 – Cruise Around
With its excellent packability, the sweeper offers an ideal solution for cruise and resort wear. It functions as a bathing suit cover-up that adds more flair and coverage than the typical sarong or tunic. The sweeper can top a romper or shorts, too, making it a versatile piece you don’t want to vacation without. And while it’s an ideal item for fall and winter, its use as vacation wear shows that the adaptable sweeper can take you right into spring.Top a t-shirt dress and add a beachy tie for lunch on the patio.
