Get outside and play

My sister Julie runs marathons, is raising twin 9-year olds and works full time teaching. She makes me feel important, funny and layered. She is smart and sassy and my pick for a quick autumn trip to Park City, Utah. We would need to stay busy, booking fishing, hiking, biking and outdoor adventures that made us turn to the hot tub for solace at the end of the day. Shopping for locally made gifts, grabbing lunch in town at The Eating Establishment, copping a ride up the chairlift for overwhelmingly stunning foliage photos and stopping in to High West Distillery and Saloon for some whiskey tasting would make us both happy. Though, we’d be happy just to sit around in our robes. For an hour, max, before Park City called us to come out and play.

Waldorf Astoria Park City

Mountain glam. Park City is largest ski and golf resort in the US.,

This luxe mountain-side hotel is a delight in any season. We ladies checked into our suite and met Executive Chef, Michael Zachman for an impressive dinner at Powder. The spa, outdoor pool and party-size hot tub soon beckoned.

Fly High

Autumn Aloft Hot Air Balloon Festival, September 15-16, 2018 followed by breakfast at Thanks to Scott and Laurie Spencer’s Adventures in Ballooning

Standing in the basket of the inflated balloon, the pilot reminded me not to lock my knees upon landing. Not a problem, since they were audibly knocking. I soon settled in for the ride of a lifetime.

Fly fishing, All Seasons Adventures: bliss with a competitive edge, 435.649.9619 Orvis waders, wading shoes and rods, snacks, sodas and water provided

Finding a rhythm, watching for the foam (“foam is home” to the fish) and casting like a champ, I was soon in a trance, though soon snapped out of it when my friend caught the first fish.
