Super Science Students

Fulton Science Academy’s Middle School Math Team won First Place in the 2018 Georgia MATHCOUNTS Competition. Two FSA students, Richard Yu and Athiwat Ackaramongkolrotn, and the school’s Department Head and Math Team Coach, Sema Duzyol, head to Nationals in Washington DC, FSA’s third consecutive year. FSA was also honored to have 7th grader, Richard Yu place first and sixth grader, Athiwat Ackaramongkolrotn, place third against the best mathletes in the state. Seventh graders, Ethan Gao, Arnav Arora, and Kevin Yuan also won 5th place, 13th place and 15th place respectively.

A Camp for All Kids

Inspired by his camp counselor experiences, GRAMMY award-winner Zac Brown, (Zac Brown Band), envisioned Camp Southern Ground, a state-of-the-art facility offering an exceptional 400-acre camp experience. Serving children ages 7-17 from all socioeconomic backgrounds, races and religions, with activities to challenge, educate and inspire campers. An inclusive camp, it will bring together typically developing children, children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, learning and attention issues, social or emotional challenges, and those from military families. Congrats JC Student Leaders

Six students from Chattahoochee High School affiliated with the Student Leaders of Johns Creek hosted the Run for Love 5K on the Chattahoochee High School track. Adiva Dutta, Sid Balaga, Emily Guo, Erin Chang, Srija Sengupta, and Emilia Osgoode raised $430 for the North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC), a local non-profit. They also held a fundraiser night at Chipotle and partnered with sponsors including Big Peach Running Co. and the Tsinghua Alumni Association of Georgia. Autrey Mill News

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve is hiring summer camp counselors for its 2018 camp season. Qualified applicants must be 18 years or older, enjoy and have experience working with children, and possess a passion for nature, history, and the great outdoors. An education background is preferred. Applicants should send a cover letter and resume to programs@autreymill.org. Also, The Camp Autrey Mill Scholarship was created to help children age 5-14 who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend camp.
