The 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium  2

A perfect vehicle for spring break!

With spring break on the horizon, we made it a priority to find automobiles that would be the best to suit the travel needs of multiple people. The 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium was one of the standouts that covered a lot of demands, whether its hitting the beach, heading for the mountains, or simply keeping passengers comfortable wherever they want to go.

Subaru has garnered a tremendous following of loyalists over the years due to their automobiles’ longevity, craftsmanship, and fond understanding of practicality at reasonable prices. This year’s Outback maintains this reputation, but adds some embellishments to make it even more desirable as a Premium trim.

True to the Subaru’s tradition, numerous amenities come standard including a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone climate control, all-wheel drive, seemingly countless airbags, and a user-friendly 7.0 infotainment system to name a few. On the option side, the Power Moonroof Package complete with an auto-dimming rearview compass mirror and Homelink for easy garage access; a power rear gate with memory; and a plethora of mind-easing safety features such as blind-spot detection, high beam assist, and their signature EyeSight Driver-Assist System with pre-collision braking confirm the Outback’s praise in the auto industry.

Up to five adults will ride contentedly thanks to the class-leading cabin space, plus the 60/40 split of the backseat provides versatility for whatever belongings accompany them. The roof rails certainly help for additional toting such as skis, extra luggage and surfboards.

Under the hood, this Outback is powered by a 2.5-liter engine based on Lineartronic CVT (continuous variable transmission) with the six-speed manual option. Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) and an 8.7-inch ground clearance further confirm our recommendation to drive this in virtually any road condition. Last, gas consumption is still an efficient combined 28 miles per gallon which is also ideal for long journeys.

Overall, the Outback 2.5i Premium will make any excursion a memorable one in all facets.

Base price: $27,695; model reviewed with option package, $32,160.

Gas mileage: 25 city/32 highway/28 combined
